Rockwell Software's 2nd Annual SoftAutomation Awards
Runner- UP Contestants
Michigan Automotive Compressors Inc.
Michigan Automotive Compressors Inc. manufactures approximately 3.5 million air conditioning units per year in a joint venture with Denso and Toyoda Automatic Loom Works. They recently deployed their Rotor Line Monitoring System that monitors data on 55 machines throughout the plant. This automation system allows the facility to monitor 2 types of data: Real-time fault codes and cases, running times, part counts, cycle times and machine running condition. The second is generating shift-end reports/data, total parts ran, minimum cycle time, total running time and total number of faults and codes. This is done through RSView32 and Active Display clients which can be accessed anywhere in the plant via the Internet. A few of the critical issues that this system addressed were: reduced breakdowns, increased up-time, and increased efficiency through cycle -time monitoring.
